Players & Recorders

This category includes stand-alone Blu-ray components used primarily for the playback and recording of high-definition video as well as gaming consoles. Manufacturers include: LG Electronics, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Sony and Samsung.

Dives and Systems

Included here are internal computer drives and and systems that come with a Blu-ray drive installed. Manufacturers include: LaCie, LG Electronics, LiteOn, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Plextor, Sony.

Blank Media

Blank Blu-ray Disc media is used for the recording and burning of data and video. Currently discs are available in two data capacities (25GB and 50GB) as a write once discs (BD-R) or a rewritable discs (BD-RE). Manufacturers include: Imation, Maxell, Memorex, Panasonic, Philips, Sony, TDK, Verbatim.

Movies, Music and Games

The major distributors of Blu-ray titles include: Buena Vista Home Entertainment/ Walt Disney, Lionsgate Home Entertainment, MGM, Paramount Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Sony BMG, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Warner Brothers, Eagle Rock Entertainment.

Software

This section includes software developed specifically for the playback and recording of data and video to BDs. Developers include: CyberLink, Intervideo, Roxio, Nero.
